Project Ambassador: Ronald Amanze
Born and brought up in north-west London and now living in Luton, Ronald is a music producer who in 2013 had a stroke which resulted in a brain injury and in 2015 he was also diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Following a long period of recovery with the support of Headway, along with various social workers and the Alzheimer’s Society, Ronald has learned to manage his health concerns and now he is committed to championing health awareness using the medium of music and creative expression.
As a music producer by background, Ronald is passionate about the role of creativity in improving the quality of life experience for all living with dementia.
Ronald has been involved in numerous dementia projects and workshops, including his much loved radio show on Deepness Dementia Radio.
Ronald is a founder of Talk Dementia; he is a Dementia Champion with the Alzheimer’s Society, a Dementia Diarist with DEEP, an Ambassador for The Stroke Association and a Trustee of Arts 4 Dementia. Plus the host of a music therapy and poetry show on Deepness dementia radio.
Ronald and Chris Maddocks were joint winners of the Exceptional Contribution by Person Living with Dementia category at the 12th National Dementia Care Awards 2022 and a short film made about Ronald, was shortlisted for an Osprey Short Film Award and screened at the Keswick Film Festival on 26 March 2022.
